The outcome of the Public Meeting on Thursday 12 February 2009 called by the Connétable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, is that Planning and Environment Minister, Freddie Cohen, has commited to reviewing the east area of town and providing a master plan for the area within the next three months.
About 100 people attended the meeting at the Town Hall and the resounding opinion was that a multi-storey car park should not be placed on Ann Court. Alternative sites and proposals were suggested which would have less impact on town residents, and residents urged the States to consider these. Proposals were also made that money on the car park should be put into a hoppa bus service and improving our transport system. Residents’ parking is an issue with many homes in town not having parking and, with some new builds not having sufficient parking for the number of units being built, this situation can only get worse. Within the master plan, this situation also needs to be address.
For those of you who have yet to sign the petition against the multi-storey at Ann Court, we will be outside Poundworld on Saturday 14th February from about 10.30am onwards. Pop by when you’re in town picking up your present for your Valentine!
